What a beautiful story, full of hope and resistance. I felt the warmth of her breath on my face as she whispered her secrets in my ear, wearing her new glittered lip gloss.

As a former MUA, I think I took for granted how makeup could impact someone. I am glad she has something to look forward to. Thank you for sharing.

I love this story and also I had no idea that having good quality makeup is illegal. It’s such an innocent product.

A beautiful story. Thank you for platforming it. I wonder if it’s something The Marshall Project would be willing to pick up! 💗

This was such a great read! Thank you for your words, authenticity, and most importantly transparency Lanae! I literally gasped out loud when the make up went down the drain! Ugh, I can only imagine how gut-wrenching that could have possibly been. But it brings me joy to see that through your incarceration you are still staying true to who you are and not letting them take away your power, your beauty, and the happiness your find in make-up!
