Awesome read! “Don’t run” is the realest advice. No amount of bubble baths, vacations, running around with the “fast boy” is going to give the soul what it needs, which is attention. The soul needs your undivided attention. When I slowed down I became fascinated with grocery aisles. Never had time before to notice all the variety of items. 😂

I felt the author was speaking directly at me. Stopping to face the battles and put together the puzzles is sound advice because sometimes too it seems that one is running not towards something but in circles. But nothing beats the calm and reset of torquoise waters and golden sands (if you can). Sometimes it takes a combination of steps to get to self.

It feels like you are gently exploding the fantasy that your real life is somewhere “out there,” and instead daring women to believe the most radical journey might be walking the same streets with new eyes until they finally feel like home.

The way you turn staying put into a kind of pilgrimage to the self makes it feel possible that the love, clarity, and belonging so many of us were ready to cross oceans for might actually be waiting in the quiet, ordinary rooms we’ve been trying to escape.
